Aftercare Guide
Make them last.
Lash extensions are an investment. With the right aftercare, a full set should stay looking full for 3–4 weeks before needing an infill. Without it, you're looking at 1–2 weeks. This guide covers everything.
The first 24 hours
The adhesive needs time to cure fully. For the first 24 hours after your appointment:
• Keep your lashes completely dry — no showers over the eyes, no steam, no swimming
• Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes
• Sleep on your back if you can (a silk pillowcase helps long-term)
• Skip the gym — sweat introduces moisture before the bond is set
• No eye makeup
After 24 hours, the bond is set and you can return to normal activities with a few ongoing precautions.
Daily cleaning
Cleaning is the single most important thing you can do to maintain your lashes. Oil, dead skin cells, and makeup residue build up at the lash line and weaken the adhesive bond.
Clean your lashes every 2–3 days (daily if you wear eye makeup):
1. Use a lash-safe, oil-free cleanser or baby shampoo diluted with water
2. Apply gently with a soft brush or your fingertips in a downward motion
3. Rinse thoroughly with cool water
4. Pat dry with a clean towel — don't rub
5. Brush through gently with your lash wand while still slightly damp
Never skip cleaning because you're worried about disturbing the lashes. Dirty lashes fall out faster.
Products to avoid
Certain products will break down the adhesive bond significantly faster:
Avoid completely:
• Oil-based makeup removers, cleansers, or moisturisers around the eye area
• Waterproof mascara (and mascara generally — you shouldn't need it)
• Sunscreen applied directly to lashes
• Steam rooms and saunas (occasional use fine after 48 hours, but minimise)
Use carefully:
• Eye creams — apply away from the lash line
• Serums — same rule
• Micellar water — fine if oil-free, avoid soaking the lashes
When in doubt, check the ingredient list. If oil appears in the first five ingredients, keep it away from your lashes.
Sleeping
Side and stomach sleepers will notice more one-sided shedding. This is friction from the pillow pressing against the lashes for hours each night.
A few practical options:
• Satin or silk pillowcase — reduces friction significantly compared to cotton
• Try a lash pillow (small donut-shaped travel pillow) that keeps your face off the surface
• Sleep on your back when you can
You'll naturally notice which side sheds faster. Mention it to Olivia at your infill so she can address the gap.
Infill timing
Natural lashes shed at a rate of 2–3 per day. As each natural lash sheds, the extension goes with it. This is normal and healthy — it means your natural lashes are cycling properly.
• 2-week infill: recommended when your set is still 60–70% full
• 3-week infill: maximum recommended gap before natural lash cycling makes the set look patchy
• Full set: once a set reaches around 40% or below, an infill isn't cost-effective
Booking in advance is strongly recommended — popular time slots fill quickly.
Removal
Never attempt to remove extensions yourself by pulling or picking. You'll remove your natural lashes with them.
If you want the extensions removed:
• Book a lash removal appointment ($30, 20–30 minutes)
• Olivia will use a professional-grade remover that dissolves the adhesive cleanly
• Your natural lashes will be completely unaffected
If you're between appointments and one or two extensions are bothering you, leave them alone. They'll shed naturally.
